Connecting With Nature - Looking After Your Environment
Making green spaces closer to home
Your Park: Creating Nature-Rich Habitats was a series of hands-on outdoor sessions held at Netham Park, delivered in partnership with Your Park Bristol and Bath.
The sessions focused on helping local families and children connect with nearby green spaces and take part in shaping them together.
Learning through doing
Across three sessions, participants took part in practical activities including:
- Digging and soil preparation
- Planting and discovering wildlife
- Exploring how small changes can support nature
Everyone was encouraged to get involved, learn by doing, and work together in the park environment.
Why it mattered
The sessions highlighted the importance of accessible green spaces for health and wellbeing. By creating nature-rich habitats close to home, the project helped people see their local park not just as a place to pass through, but as a shared space they can care for.
Looking back: A small but meaningful example of how local action can support environmental awareness while bringing people together outdoors.
