Accessing Your Local Green Spaces
Park Fundays was a summer initiative delivered in partnership with Bristol HYC and Talo during the 2020 school holidays. The sessions took place in local parks to give families a chance to spend time outdoors and connect.
What happened
Across the summer, Park Fundays brought families together for outdoor play, sports activities, and shared meals. Children took part in games, ran freely in open spaces, and spent time with friends in a relaxed, informal setting.
The days also included barbecues, creating opportunities for families to sit together, talk, and enjoy food as a community.
Why it mattered
For many families, access to outdoor activities can be limited during school holidays. Park Fundays helped remove barriers by using familiar local parks.
Partnership
The partnership between UnityRoot, Bristol HYC, and Talo was central to making this possible. By combining local knowledge and resources, we created events that felt approachable and well supported.
Looking back: Park Fundays reflects UnityRoot’s wider approach to community work — creating simple, inclusive opportunities that help people feel connected.
